I recently gave up my job at Four Store as I felt I wasn't being treated fairly. Since then I have been trying to find a job that is situated more closely within the art world.
I have applied for a 'Gallery Ambassador' job at the Whitechapel Gallery. https://www.whitechapelgallery.org/gallery-ambassadors-fixed-term-contracts-5/
the deadline is midnight tonight, so hopefully I will find out if I have an interview sometime tomorrow... !! fingers crossed!!
This morning I had my first DPS tutorial with Jade Montserrat.
See bellow my tutorial form. Based on this, and after I explained to her about needing to find another job (That it would be amazing if I could find a paid placement as this would cover both problems - no job, no future confirmed placements.) we spent the time talking about places I might want to approach, with a mind to gaining experience around curation.
We focused on trying to think of places in north east London, as this is where I am based.
Suggested places to look for job listings.... or maybe to actually get a job!:
ART ANGEL
- has an internship program.
- Art Production company, helping artists to realise exhibition goals.
Art angel projects take place in unusual locations all over the United Kingdom and on occasion, the world.
Each undertaking requires the collaboration of artists; writers; construction engineers; sound designers; chefs; musicians and electricians. But, consistent across all this work is our core team. Based in Clerkenwell, London, a group of committed and talented people work together to make these exceptional projects happen.
CABINET Gallery
- in Vauxhall... ( also amazing complicated website !! )
- Also publishes
- 'It’s not really about books, or publishing as such, it’s about language. The writers who attract us are those who bestow upon the text a physical condition, for whom language is experienced as such, sometimes painfully so. The writing then is real, and stands equally among things. A resurgence of writing in the younger generation is testimony to the fact that writing is a way of asserting this reality when you have no other means at your disposal.'
